Black hair care abroad (PARIS!)

African American females can now rest easy while traveling to one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The Mark Clement Salon provides an EXCELLENT service to women of ALL races in Paris, France. Extremley friendly staff who work to make sure you are comfortable. This is a must for any study abroad student (especially African American ones), visitor, or long-time resident. If you are white, asian, etc. Mark's salon is great for you too! I brought my Persian friend to get her hair done with me once and she loved it. I'm writing this review because of the amazing service provided to me every time I walk into the salon. And they speak English!

5 stars!

Paris Blues and Marie Antoinette

I named my blog after a favorite movie of mine called "Paris Blues" made in 1961. Here are some clips of the movie if you're interested.

I also am a little obsessed with the French Queen Marie Antoinette, her life, and the time period in general...thus the link name for my blog. Here's some information about her:

Champagne in Champagne!

Last weekend, my program took us to Reims-Champagne, a small town about an hour and a half outside of Paris. The first thing we did was take a tour of Mumm's champagne. It was nice, but I wasn't feeling well that morning so I don't have any pictures of the actual tour or of me. We sampled champagne and now I know which wines and champagnes accompany certian foods. I Afterwards we had lunch and headed to the town cathedral. The cathedral is gorgeous and extremely old. All of the french kings were coronated here. Enjoy the pictures!

I'm back! With pictures!!!

Hello all,

I'm finally back! After two long weeks of being away, I'm finally back to post and put up some pictures. Last weekend I went to Amsterdadm (The picture on the left is of Amsterdam) with my friend Raha and hand AN AMAZING TIME! The people were very friendly and the sevice everywhere was great. Everyone was willing to give us advice and we found our way around easily. Some of the things we did included:

1. Go to a jazz club
2. Went to a comedy club called "Boom Chicago"...hillarious and only 20 euro
3. Went to the Van Gogh museum. They had the "Night" exhibit up so we got to see Stary Night.

4. Went on boat tours
5. I gambled for the first time....never again. I hate loosing money. Even if it was only 5 euro.
6. Went to the sex museum...I don't recomend it.
7. Went to the red light district
8. Went to a few cafes
9. Went to the famous pancake factory...AMAZING
10. Went to Rembrandt's house

Here are some pictures of my trip in Amsterdam:

Not much new

So, not much has been going on in the past week. I've just been going to classes and doing the normal hanging out. Yesterday I went back to Sacre Couer with a friend. We wanted to ponder what brought us to Paris for awhile. Neither of us came up with an answer, but we did sing Bob Marley hits along with about 50 other students/Parisians. I had two exams last week, which is the main reason I havent been out and about. I probably wont be out much this week either as I have an extra class this week. I think I'm going somewhere this weekend...either Amsterdam or Dublin. Fun fun!

Sorry, no new pictures either...Blame my classes!!!!

Ok, got to run. Till next week,

Jannae
